Prince George's County District Court Civil Trials Return to in-person

court roomCivil Coordinating Judge, Katina S. Steuart announced that in-person civil trials will return in Prince George's County District Court beginning September 7, 2021.

This means that District Court level personal injury trials ( wthout a jury and involving claims of less than $30,000.00) will be back in the courthouses albeit on a staggered schedule.

This will doubtless be greated with mixed response from the public and lawyers alike. Cases conducted through Zoom or other video-conferencing methods have generally reduced the length of trials and obviously reduced the time devoted to commuting to, parking at and accessing the courtrooms.

The ultimate question is why is such a return necessary particularly at a time when the Delta variant is a scourge spanning the country?
