It hasn't been that long since the Covid-19 pandemic has slowed down the auto insurance companies and with a sea of adjusters idling at home some of the carriers, most notably Geico, have seized the opportunity to settle cases on more generous terms.
To be clear, this has highly beneficial consequences for Geico as it helps reduce work overloads in their house counsel offices and allows for better focus on the truly contested claims. It also reduces the caseloads for adjusters as well.
This should also be a benefit for Geico's insureds, who no longer have to face the stress, inconvenience and time consumption of depositions and trial dates.
One might speculate that this is also a by-product of a vast reduction of new claims as stay at home orders reduce traffic and accidents nationwide.
Whatever the reason, it is a welcome change to the modern auto accident claims world and is to be lauded. Hail Geico, at least for now.
