Laurel's Robert V. Clark, Jr. Esq. on Front Car Crash Avoidance

One of the marvels of modern technology is the development of so-called crash avoidance systems. The precursors to front crash avoidance systems include such items as anti-lock brakes, airbags and vehicle stability systems. Now a whole array of new technologies are becoming available and for the first time the Insurance Institute is rating their effectiveness.

The two main variants of front crash avoidance are ones that either forewarn drivers of an imminent crash and/or ones that take action to avoid or reduce the impact of the crash through automatic braking systems.

Seven vehicles earned top ratings for crash avoidance and can be found at this link: http://www.iihs.org/iihs/news/desktopnews/iihs-issues-first-crash-avoidance-ratings-under-new-test-program-7-midsize-vehicles-earn-top-marks-for-front-crash-prevention
