One of the pleasures of the practice of law is the opportunity to share the hard won knowledge we have accumulated with the public. On November 6, 2013, Laurel, Maryland's Robert V. Clark, Jr. will have this opportunity on Sirius Satellite Radio's "The Legal Pad" with host James E. McCollum, Jr.
The broadcast will air at 7:30 am on Sirius XM channel 141 and will concern professional malpractice. Mr. Clark, of the law firm Clark and Steinhorn, LLC, has practiced law in the trial courts of the District of Columbia and Maryland for more than 32 years. He tried his first medical malpractice case in Montgomery County, Maryland more than 31 years ago and continues to litigate such cases, most recently in Prince George's County, Maryland.
Messers. Clark and McCollum carried on a lively discussion of medical, legal and professional malpractice with a focus on 3 cases recently concluded by Clark and Steinhorn. These included two cases in Prince George's County, Maryland. One involved a home health aide/caregiver who negligenty inflicted a scalding injury, on a paraplegic patient and the other concerned an attorney who failed to insure a property for which he was a trustee, which subsequently burned to the ground rendering its teenage owner homeless.
The final case discussed was a truck accident on the Baltimore Beltway in which a wheel detached from a pickup truck and came through the windshield of another truck causing catastophic injury to its driver. In that case a detailed investigation revealed the liklihood that the cause of the wheel detachment was the state inspector.
The cases illustrate that "professional malpractice" means more than doctors and hospitals being negligent but aso include lawyers, nurses, inspectors and other licensed professionals.
