Amtrak Derailment Augers Difficult Travel Week

Posted on Nov 25, 2013

Amtrak's historic "Crescent" train derailed near Spartanburg, South Carolina early today, Monday November 25, 2013. Amtrak reports no serious injuries and in its inimitable way, suggests that the train became "disabled".

Of course 7 of the 9 cars came off the track so it sure sounds like a derailment. Interestingly, Amtrak employed buses to transport the passengers and one has to be concerned about the ripple effects that such incidents will have on holiday travel.

The Federal Railroad Administration will doubtless take a closer look. Let's hope the injured passengers heal quickly.
