Tragedy engulfed I-95 in Beltsville Tuesday night as a multi-vehicle crash took the life of a teenager and closed down the highway. A vehicle became disabled in the roadway and the ensuing series of crashes killed a teenager and severely injured his mother.
The mother and son slowed down in response to the disabled car in the vicinity of Maryland 200, when they were hit in the rear by a tractor trailer. The disabled car, a Honda , saw its occupants injured and taken to Prince George's Hospital Center where they were diagnosed with non-life threatening injuries.
The Maryland State Police and Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Division have investigated the incident and charges are a probable outcome. Our hearts go out to the family of the young man who was killed and our hopes are that his mother will have a speedy recovery.
