College Park Fatal Hit and Run Crash Suspect Apprehended

The recent deadly College Park hit and run crash killed Janelle Oni of Randallstown, Maryland. The 3 am collision on July 6th, 2014 took place at the intersection of Hartwick Road and Route One. The hit and run driver, Jacky Luangraj of Manassas waa apprehended near the beltway and has been charged with a host of alcohol-related charges.

Ms. Oni was a recent graduate of Salisbury University. Our hearts go out to her family and friends.

This recurrent cycle of deadly hit and run crashes appears to be a difficult problem for the City of College Park and the University of Maryland to solve. Maryland's president, Wallace Loh, spoke out about plans to make the city of College Park safer in April in the immediate aftermath of two other crash-related wrongful deaths and yet the reported new safety measures appear to have done nothing for Ms. Oni.

A transparent look at the effectiveness and/or implementation of the April safety proposals would be a good first step in stopping the carnage in College Park.
