A tragic incident took place in Laurel, Maryland on Friday March 25, 2011. A mother dropping off her baby and toddler at day care in Laurel, accidentally left her car in gear and when the car began rolling toward her three year-old ran to save him with her baby in her arms. As she hurried to save her son from the impending crash, the drivers door hit her knocking her underneath the car. The car ran over the mother and both children, killing the baby and injuring the mother and toddler.
The deadly crash illustrates the extraordinary importance of turning off one's vehicle before exiting with young children. Our hearts go out to this young family for their tragic loss.
