Six-Year Old Drowns at D.C. Rec Center

A tragic pool drowning took place today in the District. A six-year old girl drowned at the Turkey Thicket Recreation Center. She was taken to Children's Hospital but was unable to be revived. The incident took place this afternoon.

The youngster was pulled from the public pool and CPR  was performed on her to no avail. Investigation into how this incident occurred and how the lifeguards were unaware of this tragic situation will follow.

As a former employee for DPR Aquatics it was a know practice by management to violate many of their policies and procedures in place for the safefty of the patrons and staff. Countless of time I came in to discovering a Lifeguard on duty asleep at his/her post. Several times this was brought to the attention of management in written form and in proof of a picture (of which I took) of a Lifeguard on duty sleeping during his coverage at a DPR facility.
