A MARC train and an Amtrak locomotive collided around 9 a.m. this morning at the Union Station railyard in the District of Columbia. Fortunately, the trains were devoid of passengers but unfortunately cleaning crews on board were injured.

The crash resulted in a slow speed derailment of five MARC train cars. No toxic chemicals or substances were released, which is often a risk when trains collide. While there was some initial curtailing of both MARC and Amtrak service it is expected that afternoon service will return to normal. For more go to: http://wtopnews.com/?nid=25&sid=2107080
