As we have reported here, crash deaths and injuries are down locally and nationally. Unfortunately, the Washington area has recently seen an outbreak of pedestrian crash deaths and injuries. Today alone there were multiple pedestrian car crash injuries.

In Silver Spring, at the intersection of University Boulevard and Sligo Creek Parkway, a woman pushing her three-year-old son in a stroller was struck and both were injured. This was the second stroller crash in a few days. Later, a fourteen-year-old boy in Gaithersburg was struck by a Gaithersburg Police Car and injured. Finally, a pedestrian in Fairfax County, Virginia was struck by a car and injured.

Last week, two men were killed in a crash while crossing Rockville Pike and a Columbia, Maryland woman was tragically killed in the Dupont Circle area of Washington, D.C. Alcohol may have been involved in both those incidents.

Word to the wise, be careful out there and cross in crosswalks with the traffic light.
