Prince Georges County First Responders Get Long-Awaited Upgrade

Radio dead-zones no more! Prince Georges County officials announced their new public safety communication system which will involve 21 new radio towers both eliminating dead-zones and enabling inter-county radio communication with neighbor, Montgomery County, Maryland.

The $76 million dollar upgrade will enable EMS, firefighters, police and other county safety employees to have reliable communications county-wide.

The roll-out of the new system is still a year away as a great deal of training and fine-tuning is in order.

A new 911 center will also be opening next year.
