While overall Maryland and the District of Columbia have very safe transportation systems the sheer number of people using them and the nature of the buses and trains utilized results in catastrophic injuries on a fairly routine basis.
A person was struck by a red line subway train this morning in what may be a fatal accident. WUSA9.com is reporting that people using the metro red line subway experienced delays this morning as a result of a person who may have intentionallly stepped into the path of the oncoming train. The train collision occurred at 9:29 a.m. and involved a train traveling in the direction of Glenmont at the Takoma Station.
