A brief blurb courtesy of WTOP wherein Metro General Manager, Richard Sales acknowledges that Metro might have wanted to focus on the escalator braking problems before people  were injured leaves a sort of unpleasant taste in my mouth.

It is great  that they now perceive braking as a "safety issue" and not a "maintenance issue" but why do people have to get hurt before Metro wakes up. The idea that this suppressed report on the braking revealed years of both elevator and escalator maintenance neglect is disturbing as usual. Either it is a funding issue or a management issue and some transparency is increasingly essential. Go to : http://wtopnews.com/?nid=25&sid=2113936
