As the N.T.S.B. investigated the deadly Fort Totten Metro crash it became readily evident that track circuits were at the heart of the problem.

Now comes word that Metro will announce Thursday that it intends to replace hundred of track circuits throughout the system. The cost is estimated to be substantial with the Red line alone costing more than $10 million. One hopes they can find the funding and restore Metro's image as a safe and well run transportation system.
