Authorities are predicting one of the heaviest travel Labor Day weekends in Maryland since the recession hit four years ago. According to an article in the Baltimore Sun, "pent up demand" for travel is the cause of the increased holiday traffic.
Apparently, many Marylanders did not travel for Memorial Day or for the July 4th holiday this year. Now is the time to take that vacation.
With so many cars on the road, safety awareness will be more important than ever. Car crashes continue to cause traffic deaths in our area. Last week, an 18 year old girl was killed in a three car crash in Joppa. The crash occurred when one car crossed the double yellow lines on Route 152, causing the three car crash. One car erupted in flames as a result of the collision. Emergency rescue personnel were unable to save the young woman.
With the roadways filled with cars this weekend, it is more important than ever to drive safely. Car crashes increase with more cars on the roadways. Please exercise an overabundance of caution on the roadways this weekend.
