Fort Totten Metro Crash Module Anomalies

It seems the answer to what caused the Fort Totten Metro crash is more elusive than some might have thought. The National Transportation Safety Board, The Federal Transit Administration, Metro and the private equipment manufacturers are scrutinizing all the detection components to ascertain why train 214 was not detected by the various safety devices.

Particular focus has been on two modules which were in use at the time of the crash. These demonstrated anomalies upon testing after the collision. A substitution of other modules also did not work properly. This was thought to be of significance until two new modules were plugged in and worked properly.

It seems that adjustments to track circuit signal strength may have played a role on the module anomalies.
