Backing-Up Collision Kills Northwest Washington Man

A Northwest Washington man was struck while negotiating a crosswalk in the vicinity of the National Mall on Sunday November 15th, 2009 and subsequently died. The vehicle involved was backing up and stuck Richard Greenstein and his wife in a crosswalk.

The dangers of backing vehicles have been examined here previously and efforts to safeguard pedestrians are being explored at the National Highway Transportation Safety Administration.
