Laurel, Maryland single car crashes prove deadly. The causes are somewhat mystifying.

Two recent single car crashes in Laurel, Maryland have taken the lives of Laurel residents and a third sent the driver to The University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center. The latest crash occurred at Md. Route 216 and Stephens Road, when a single occupant vehicle struck two light poles and overturned. The vehicle operator was not wearing a seatbelt and was taken to the R Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore for critical injuries.

On Sunday January 15, 2017 another crash took place on the Northbound ramp for I-95 at Route 198. Arden Hall of Laurel was killed in this crash and two other occupants of the same vehicle were taken to Prince George's Hospital Center for their injuries.

Just two weeks earlier, Sunya Smith was killed in a single car crash into a tree on Summerwind Circle. The causes of such single vehicle crashes are often hard to understand, especially in densely populated areas such as Laurel, Maryland. State Police are investigating the most recent crash.
